So, our elected leaders in Congress have chosen to send us home. Okay, fine, but couldn't they have waited until the weather was nicer? I mean, really. If I am going to go home on an unpaid vacation the last thing I want to do is cut and drag branches all day long (with no power to run my *electric* chainsaw, thank you very much).

Yes, that is my truck. Ugh/

That's the tree. Half of it is in the yard.

That is not a bush in front of my truck. It's a pile of cottonwood branches.

So really, Congress. Next time a little better planning, please?

Bubbles

Went to a 1 year old's birthday party today (why am I so grossed out by children with food all over their faces?). They had a bubble maker there which really entertained the kids. Naturally, as devoted pet owners we thought "Our pets are our kids. Surely they would go nuts over bubbles!"

Riiiiiiight.

 "Bubbles? Really? Am I supposed to be amused? I am not. I most certainly am not amused."

 "OHMYGOSH not bubbles! Get them away get them away GETTHEMAWAYAWAYAWAYY!"

"You people can be so annoying."

I didn't get up on the kitchen table and eat all the cat food.

Was walking by the kitchen window earlier this afternoon and saw this:

What a beautiful mule deer! He wandered out of sight and over toward the bedroom, so as quietly as I could I snuck out back and around the side of our house to get a better pic. Much to my surprise...

That's our bedroom awning to the left. These guys were just happy as clams to be hanging out in the shade of the lilacs and the cottonwood.

Miss Kitty Legs

They are short but powerful.  She still manages to stalk the male cats around the house. Her favorites are Hobbes and Odin. She also has a soft spot for Simon the Lab and Herman the Corgi. Ok . . .she loves everyone.

Hermann's first big snow

Hermann finally realized he's short.

You'd think a Corgi whose best bud is a 90 lb Lab would know that by now, but it took having his speed and stealth during play negated completely by cruel Mother Nature for it to sink in.

Simon actually winning the fetch game for once!

"Not fair! I'm supposed to win ALL doggie games!"

"Okay. But only because you're my bestest buddy. Besides Al. And Lesley. And Angus. And Kaycee. Stop biting my ankles, okay?"

1 year old tomorrow! Les and I baked him and his best buddies Simon and Feo doggie peanut butter delight cakes. The "frosting" is Greek yoghurt, and the decoration is carrot strips.

Last time we did this for Herman Sr. (http://chorgi.blogspot.com/2010/07/peanut-butter-delight-doggy-birthday.html) he was the big piggie that wouldn't let the others get much. I'll let you judge who got the better of today's helping. ;)
